Then, the insurance provider pays a portion of the charge for services. Each plan will differ, so it\u2019s important that you understand what types of appointments and procedures it applies to. Often, dental insurance will fully pay for basic preventative care appointments like cleanings and checkups, so you can prioritize your health. Other optional treatments, like cosmetic dentistry, aren\u2019t always included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Insurance will typically cover 80-50% of the costs for restorative procedures and surgeries above basic care. However, you\u2019re still responsible for the deductible (the amount you need to pay out of pocket before insurance kicks in) and copays (your portion of costs for a visit). Plans vary and will have different dollar values associated with deductibles and copays, so be sure you understand what\u2019s included in your insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Do Dental Discount Plans Work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dental discount plans are offered by certain dentists for patients who don\u2019t have insurance or who need extra help. These are set up like a membership program where you pay an annual fee (often between $100-$200) and often fully cover important preventive care. <s>D<\/s>iscounts offered on various other dental work will often be less than the coverage provided by dental insurance, but will usually cover far more services, including orthodontic and cosmetic treatments offered at that practice. These are almost always specific to that dentist only and won\u2019t apply at another office like dental insurance does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t have dental insurance, contact your dentist and ask what programs they offer. If they have a discount plan, consider registering!
